Prague, Feb 4 (CTK) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus underwent a planned cataract operation during the forced restriction of his schedule after he sprained his ankle on Tuesday, Presidential Office spokesman Radim Ochvat said Sunday.

Server www.lidovky.cz informed about the operation earlier Sunday.

Klaus is now recovering at the presidential chateau in Lany, central Bohemia.

"Doctor Pavel Stodulka performed the operation in the out-patient regime at the Gemini eye clinic in Zlin (south Moravia). The post-operation development is normal," Ochvat said.

Klaus will restrict his schedule next week too. Ochvat said he will be mainly preparing for a state visit to Turkey on February 14-16.

On Tuesday, February 7, Klaus will receive Industry and Trade Minister Martin Kuba at Lany.

Klaus, 70, has health problems only rarely. Four years ago he received a hip endoprosthesis.

Last autumn he modified his schedule over tonsillitis. He said later thanks to the illness he had more time to work on his book European Integration Without Illusions that was issued last November.

Klaus's second and last possible five-year term expires in early 2013.
